Context
We acquired a stock and portfolio analysis startup. Solid algorithm, but the product was cumbersome enough that most users never got far enough to see it work.
We started some user testing cycles: discover major issues, ship a new version, and test again
Redesigned the app one issue at a time: Onboarding, Integrations, Prioritization, Learning.
+20x of acquired users got to the aha moment... retention after that was a different battle
This project also kickstarted the design team... hired our first product designer, and a couple months later I moved on to other projects.
